1. What we collect

When you create an account we collect your username, email address, and a hashed password. We do not store your plain-text password.

When you upload photos for tagging, the full image is loaded into memory on our servers and sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. The original file is not stored — only a resized preview (max 400px) is saved to cloud storage for display purposes. The AI-generated metadata (title, description, keywords) is stored in our database.

We collect basic usage data such as the number of photos processed and credits consumed in order to enforce plan limits and display your usage statistics.

2. How we use your data

We use your data solely to provide the PixTags service — generating metadata for your photos, managing your subscription, and sending transactional emails (password resets, low-credit alerts).

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described in section 3.

3. Third parties

  • OpenAI — your images are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. OpenAI's data usage policy applies. Images submitted via API are not used to train OpenAI models by default.
  • DodoPayments — handles payment processing. We share your email address with DodoPayments when you subscribe. We do not store your card details.
  • Resend — used to send transactional emails.
  • Cloudflare R2 / Vercel — cloud infrastructure for storing preview images and hosting the application.
  • Neon (PostgreSQL) — cloud database where account data, metadata, and file references are stored.

4. Data retention

Your photos and metadata are retained as long as your account is active. If you delete a photo or collection, the data is permanently removed from our systems.

If you delete your account, all associated data — photos, metadata, and personal information — is permanently deleted within 30 days.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing.

6. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is strictly necessary for the service to function and does not track you across other websites.
